1) Cutting for electrical connections: Keep in mind that the film comes with a total of 4 layers, protective layers on each side that are removed and the center two layers, these center two layers are what need to be cut in this step. It is ok to cut through the protective layers in this step. For the film to operate properly, one layer of film will need to be cut on the front as well as the back. The amount that needs to be removed should be 35% of the length for each side, a total of 70% the length of the edge being cut. The tool provided in the E-Kit is designed to cut from right to left. After inserting the blade into the cutting tool, the blade height should be adjusted to approximately 12mm. Carefully slice between the layers while placing the flat edge of the tool flush to the edge of the film.

2) Once sliced, clean each exposed section with a lint free clean wipe and rubbing alcohol to remove any debris or oil. Light pressure is all that is required. Allow to dry.

3) Next, apply clear tape to the top edge of the exposed section. This is done to prevent silver paste from contacting where the two center layers connect, this would disrupt proper operation of the film.

4) Syringes of silver paste are included in the E-Kit and come with several needle tips. Attach a tip and apply a thin line of the silver paste to each side of the exposed areas. Next, use a small brush to spread the line of silver paste uniformly to the exposed surface. The clear tape from the previous step should protect the long edge however, care should be taken to not spread the silver paste to the remaining short edge where the center layers are connected. This silver paste must dry completely before the next step. A heat gun is recommended to speed up this process. Once dried, remove clear tape.

5) Included in the E-Kit will be rolls of 10mm copper tape. This tape will be applied to the dried silver paste. On the side of the film that has the semi rough protective layer, the copper tape can be cut at the edge of the film. For the side that has the smooth protective layer, the copper tape will need to extend enough to wrap around the other side so both soldering connections can be made on the semi rough side (as the smooth side has the adhesive). It is important to remove enough of the semi rough protective film to allow the folded over copper tape to make contact on the other side.

6) Soldering can be done before or after applying film to the glass depending on your level of comfort.

Using wire cutters, strip approximately 5-8mm of the black and the red cables. With a soldering iron and lead wire, attach one electrical wire to each of the copper strips. Allow solder to harden.

7) The two wires leaving the film will connect to the two blue wires on the car power controller. Then from the red(+) and black(-) wires on the car power controller to the corresponding terminals on a 12V battery.

8) The car power controller converts the 12V power source to AC 40 V

car power controllers are easily paired to remotes but need to be accessible if wanting to change or add another remote.
Controllers are also capable of having an inline switch so a remote is not needed or in the case the remote is lost.

If the battery dies on the car, you cannot see out of any of the windows as the battery power is how our film transitions into the clear (on) state from the opaque (off) state. Polymer-Displaced Liquid Crystal (PDLC) Film is a technological feat. In Ghost Glass™ PDLC Film, the liquid crystals are arranged in a scattered droplet pattern. When an electric current is applied, the droplet formations react in a synchronized manner allowing the liquid crystals to transition from opaque to clear.

The PDLC film (Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal) technology combines polymers and liquid crystal materials, creating a base for a new generation of window displays.
